Ladies First Celebrity Golf Classic Announces Results of 2007 EventHagerman repeats as part of winning celebrity grouping
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 22, 2007) – The third annual Ladies First Celebrity Golf Classic - the only Celebrity Charity Golf Tournament to feature an all-female field of celebrities - took place May 18 to 20 at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, CA and the Cimarron Golf Resort in Cathedral City, CA. The Classic raised funds for the Women’s Sports Foundation’s GoGirlGo! Initiative. Female celebrities from the worlds of sports, movies, television, and music participated and won prizes and charitable donations.
The three-day weekend event featured golf rounds and clinics, receptions, dinners, evening entertainment, and, for the first time, the Classic opened its doors to the public, with a Saturday evening concert by five-woman rock band Antigone Rising (at VIBE at Morongo), and a Sunday afternoon Celebrity Tournament “Spectator Day” (at Cimarron).
Winners of the marquis Celebrity Tournament on Sunday, May 20 were: seven-time Olympic gymnastics medalist Shannon Miller; actresses Laura Johnson and Marisa Ramirez; reality tv personality Leilene Ondrade; and Olympic women’s ice hockey medalist Jamie Hagerman, who was a part of the winning team for the second straight year. Each team member received a crystal Tiffany & Co. platter in recognition of her achievement.
Celebrity runners-up included: Olympic women’s ice hockey gold medalist and former team Captain Cammi Granato; three-time Olympic softball gold medalist Laura Berg; CSI:Miami’s Boti Bliss; World Champion Skeleton Racer Noelle Pikus Pace; and Olympic women’s soccer gold medalist Kristin Luckenbill.
These winners and runners-up won nominal donations in their respective names to their personal charities of choice, in addition to helping raise funds for GoGirlGo! through their overall participation.
Winners of Sunday’s amateur “networking” tournament, included: Jennifer Brown; Pam Sabonis; Tomi Spoor; Charles Whitney; and Justin Winkelman. And, winners of Saturday’s Celeb-Am, included: X Games Gold Medalist Grete Eliassen; actress Rachel Grant; and amateurs Kate Whitney and Steve Krause. They were followed by runners-up: Hagerman and Ramirez, along with amateurs Linda Dillenbeck and Kristine Rasgorshek. Winners of all the team events (Celebrity Tournament, Amateur Tournament, and Celeb-Am), all received Roger Dunn Golf Shops Gift Cards as well.
Several prizes were available for the winning on Saturday’s Celeb-Am day, and winners included:
American Laser Centers Closest to the Pin: Kristin Luckenbill (prize: a complimentary treatment package);
BostonCoach Straightest Drive: Katie Kelly (prize: a new driver golf club);
Mirassou Winery Closest to the Pin: Karen Katzbeck (prize: a wine and picnic backpack);
Morongo Casino Longest Drive: Tomi Spoor (prize: a Morongo weekend package).
Participants also had the opportunity to win a new Mercedes-Benz, courtesy of Mercedes-Benz of Palm Springs via a hole-in-one contest on each of the two days. Unfortunately, no one took home the keys. Other fun on course activities included a wine and cheese tasting, courtesy of Mirassou Winery, and refreshments courtesy of Penta Water, Powerbar Pria, and Michelob Ultra.
